2022 Local Summer Bucket List! | Peachtree City Moms

Summer is in full swing and though it’s flying by, it’s not too late to finish that bucket list or even add to it. Just in case you are looking for some more ideas, I’ve compiled a list of summer must-do’s in and around town.

1.) Picking Peaches at Gregg Farms
This is always a family favorite. Gregg Farms located in Concord, GA  has the juiciest peaches ready to pick between June and July. You can also shop their jams, jellies, salsa, pickled peaches, peach syrup, peach BBQ sauce, chow chow, and pickled okra. Don’t forget to try their fresh churned strawberry and peach ice cream…it’s a dream!

2.) Peachtree City’s Annual Independence Day Parade and Fireworks.
Monday, July 4th 9:00am-10:00am with fireworks beginning at dusk. You simply can’t miss this Peachtree City tradition. The Parade begins at Village on The Green and travels up the Peachtree Parkway and ends at McIntosh Trail Complex. Fireworks will take place over Lake Peachtree and will began at dusk. Don’t forget to decorate your golf cart!

3.) Trail Riding at the Calvin Center

Looking for a fun adventure for the family. Try a tour at the Calvin Center…perfect for beginners ages 5 and up. Tour includes brushing, saddling up, feeding the horses, along with a one hour guided trail ride. Our family had a great experience at the Calvin Center. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond to pair each of us with the right horse to make even the most apprehensive rider feel comfortable.

Fun on the farm starts here. Belle’s Barn is home to chickens, donkeys, cows and calves, goats, horses and more! There is also gem mining where you can mine for shark teeth, gems, and arrowheads at the sluice.

Take a drive into ATL for a day trip to the zoo. Have you seen the African Savannah exhibit? It’s a good one. Get an up close look at Elephants, feed a Giraffe, or spot a Zebra. The Gorillas never disappoint either. Afterwards, kids can play in the splash pad, ride the train and carousel, visit the petting zoo, and even zip line on the new ropes course.

6.) Night Market at Drake Field
Later this summer, you can add this event to the calendar. Pack a picnic basket and blanket and head to Lake Peachtree for a night of outdoor fun, shopping local vendors, food trucks, and live music.

7.) Zip-lining
With several zip-lining parks close by, its easier than ever to scratch this one off your bucket list if you haven’t already. Here are just a few to choose from.

8.) Camping at Lake Lanier
Put away the screens and get back to nature by camping on the beautiful and serene Lake Lanier. Pop a tent, grill some hot dogs, build a fire, make s’mores and lots of memories.

9.) Concert at The Fred
Make it a point to see at least one show at The Fred. This outdoor amphitheater is the epitome of summertime fun. Visit www.amphitheater.org for upcoming shows.

After you finish shopping at The Avenue, throw down a blanket, order dinner from one of your favorite Avenue restaurants and enjoy a movie under the stars.
Movies begin at sundown.
Fun activities begin 2 hours prior to show time.
6/27 Sing 2
7/11 Space Jam: A New Legacy
7/25 Clifford The Big Red Dog

11.) Paddlingboarding and Kayaking Our Lakes
Take a paddle on one of Peachtree City’s beautiful lakes…Lake Kedron, Lake McIntosh, or Lake Peachtree. Soak up that sunshine and get some exercise while enjoying the beautiful views off the lake.

Take a hike on this popular nature area which offers close to 3 miles of hiking trails. You’ll find an upland hardwood forest, beautiful creekside granite outcroppings, and a rushing stream bordered by native azaleas. Enjoy a fishing dock on a small pond, a gazebo, and picnic tables. When on the Mule Rock trail be sure to look for the Mule Rock carving!

After your hike at Line Creek, try a new refreshing flavorful hand crafted Brew on tap at Line Creek Brewery.

Float through the scenic Alpine Village of Helen, GA and down the Chattahoochee River for a fun filled adventure.

16.) Finally, no summer is complete without at least one of these frozen treats….A Snoball at Beez Freeze, Gelato at Honey Suckle, and frozen yogurt at FroYo and Vino.

So what’s on your bucket list? Did I miss anything? Let me know. I would love your feedback. Cheers to finishing out this summer strong!
