Meet Dr. Ijeoma Bello, Founder of Essentia Women’s Health and Aesthetics delivering “personalized, elevated, comprehensive care without rushing, dismissing, or settling…just real answers, real healing, and a return to what medicine was always meant to be—restorative, relational, and rooted in trust.” In our Q&A, Dr. Bello shares why she created Essentia—“to reimagine what women’s health could be”, along with her best Women’s Healthcare tip!

Q&A

What is your background? How did you choose to become a Gynecologist?

I’m Dr. Ijeoma Bello, a board-certified OB-GYN based in Fayetteville, mom, oldest of seven daughters, and the founder of Essentia Women’s Health & Aesthetics—a boutique women’s health and wellness practice in Fayetteville, GA.

Growing up as the oldest in a big Nigerian-American family, I had a front-row seat to womanhood in every stage. Many are surprised to know there’s actually a 20-year age gap between me and my youngest sister, so I often joke that my mom was pregnant for most of my life. But in all seriousness, watching her move through multiple pregnancies gave me a unique lens into the power and complexity of women’s health. I saw firsthand how a mother’s wellness shaped the entire household—when she thrived, so did we.

As the oldest, I also had the privilege of helping my sisters navigate their own transitions—adolescence, puberty, pregnancy, and birth. Supporting them wasn’t just something I did—it was something I was called to do. I’ve always felt deeply connected to women’s stories, and being able to guide, comfort, and educate others through those moments felt natural. A career in women’s health wasn’t something I planned—it was something I was born to do.

But after years of practicing in traditional healthcare settings, something didn’t sit right. Appointments were rushed. Women weren’t truly being heard. Both my patients and I were tired of the same response to their concerns: “It’s just part of aging” or “That’s normal after kids.” That didn’t feel like real care. And it certainly didn’t feel like integrity.

So I dove into educating myself about innovative approaches to hormone health, vaginal rejuvenation/intimacy care, and weight management—treatments that actually addressed the root causes of women’s concerns but were often left out of traditional care.

That’s why I created Essentia—to reimagine what women’s health could be. A place where women feel heard, seen, and genuinely cared for. A space where “embarrassing” topics are just Tuesday chats, and where advanced treatments in hormone health, pelvic floor wellness, and aesthetics are accessible without red tape.

At Essentia, we deliver personalized, elevated, comprehensive care. No rushing, no dismissing, no settling. Just real answers, real healing, and a return to what medicine was always meant to be—restorative, relational, and rooted in trust.

What is the best thing about your job?

The best part of my job is helping women feel like themselves again—or sometimes, even better than they ever have. It’s incredibly powerful to witness that moment when a woman realizes her symptoms aren’t “just in her head” or something she has to accept as “part of aging.” There are real solutions—and she deserves access to them.

What makes it even more meaningful is the connection I get to build with each woman. I’m not just learning about lab results or symptoms—I’m learning about her: her story, her relationships, her goals, the parts of herself she wants to reconnect with. All of that is tied to her health and how she feels in her own body.

My job gives me the privilege of being part of that transformation. Whether it’s celebrating a major weight loss milestone, helping her enjoy intimacy again, or watching her confidence blossom because she feels good about how her vulva looks—these moments are deeply personal and often life-changing. And to be trusted in that journey, to witness that kind of healing and empowerment, is what touches me most.

What is your best “Women’s Healthcare” tip?

Listen to your body—and don’t ignore what it’s trying to tell you. Symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, mood shifts, bladder leaks, or changes in intimacy aren’t just things you have to live with. They’re signals that something is off, and you deserve to explore real solutions. Advocate for yourself and find a provider who listens, takes you seriously, and partners with you to get to the root cause—not one who brushes you off with “that’s just part of getting older.”

And just as important: prioritize yourself. As women, we often pour into everyone and everything—our kids, spouses, work, community, even the soccer team snack rotation—while putting ourselves last. But true wellness means caring for yourself the way you care for those you love. That includes the check-ups and the facials. That means saying yes to the hormone labs and the Botox, the pap smear and the quiet moment of rest. It’s not vanity—it’s vitality. Taking that time to care for your body, your skin, and your spirit allows you to show up fully, feel good in your skin, and thrive in every role you carry.

What do you love about Peachtree City and the surrounding areas?

What I love most is the strong sense of community. People here genuinely care and take the time to make real connections and friendships—it’s not just about where you live, it’s about who you live among. As someone who pours so much into supporting women, it’s refreshing to be part of a community that values wellness, kindness, and showing up for one another.

I also love the peaceful energy here—it’s the perfect blend of serenity and vibrance. There’s something special about hopping in a golf cart to head to your favorite coffee shop or local boutique—it’s a lifestyle that feels slower in the best way. One of my newest favorite things to do is explore restaurants I’ve never tried before. Right now, I’m on a personal mission to find the best steak in the area, so send your recommendations my way—I’m all ears!

What TV show are you loving right now? Book? Movie? Podcast?

When I get the chance to unwind, I’m usually watching everything suspenseful and mysterious on Netflix. I love a good twisty plot—anything that keeps me guessing and makes me say “just one more episode” (even when it’s way past my bedtime).

When it comes to books, I’m currently obsessed with anything by Freida McFadden. Her novels are psychological thrillers—fast-paced, gripping, and full of unexpected turns. Listening to them on audiobook adds to the experience—it feels like being around a campfire hearing a story that keeps you on edge. Her stories are always about everyday people with secrets you never see coming. Perfect for when I need a total mental escape.

For podcasts, Mel Robbins is my go-to. Her energy is unmatched, and her episodes are both motivational and practical. Whether she’s talking about mindset, productivity, or just how to take back your power as a woman, I always walk away feeling more grounded and inspired.
