In our Q&A, Lauren shares what called her to launch Holding Hearts Consulting, the services she offers, along with her favorite Mom Hack!

What is your background? Tell us about your career.

During nursing school, I worked in the hospital nursery and knew that was what I was meant to do. After graduating, I began my nursing career in the NICU at NEGMC in Gainesville GA. It was an amazing 10 years. I learned so much that paved the way to my current career. I have the best job! I still get to teach and love on moms and babies just in a different setting now.

What called you to become the Founder of  Holding Hearts Consulting?

My family relocated to Peachtree City in 2013 and two years later, I launched my newborn consulting business. I have partnered with hundreds of families and have loved every minute of it. I get to be their support person. I teach them anything and everything baby: how to clip fingernails, best way to swaddle, how to set their baby up for sleep success, help with reflux, help with any feeding difficulties, discuss routines and schedules based on developmental age and weight.

Not everyone has a mom down the street and there is so much conflicting information on the internet. My experience in and out of the hospital setting has provided the experience and knowledge to walk alongside these new mommas.

In 2017, I started offering night nursing services and today my company has over 35 nurses between PTC, Newnan, Atlanta, and Augusta.

What is the best thing about your job?

I love the relationship I have with the families. They trust me and they trust my nurses. I want moms to be confident, less confused, and definitely less exhausted; then they can really enjoy this sweet time with their baby.

Can you share more about the services you offer?

I offer private counseling services including in home and virtual consultations (2-3 hours) for newborns where we cover ALL THINGS BABY: hands on teaching the best swaddling practices, bathing tips, help with feeding, schedules/routines, what to do when babies are sick, etc. I also offer sleep consultations for babies over 4 months that struggle with naps or nighttime sleep. All three of these packages comes with 3 months of unlimited support.

Night Nursing Services:

Hours: 10pm-6am

Services: full baby care, assist with nursing if needed, baby/toddler laundry, cleaning bottles

Each team member is a RN with a current license, has passed a background check, and currently work in NICU or Mother/Baby unit in local hopsitals.

What is your best “working mom” tip?

Don’t forget about YOU. You can’t completely ignore your mental, physical, and emotional health. And sleep is HUGE! Make sleep for yourself a priority.

What is your favorite “mom hack”?

Baby products have come a long way in the last few years. I love the mini fridges in the nursery for storing breast milk. It’s perfect for not having to go up and down the stairs all night for bottles.

The shoulder flap/fold in baby clothes….most people don’t realize this is made in order to pull clothes over and down the shoulders instead of over the head. So this is a lifesaver during those “blow out diaper” situations.

Oh and of course the hands free breast pumps! I bet a woman came up with those!!

What do you love about Peachtree City and the surrounding areas?

I love how accessible things are! We love hopping over to Senoia for date nights or Trilith. And of course, we love the golfcart communities. I now have a 15 year old and most afternoons she and her sister are cruising around the paths. And as long as she doesn’t have to get a buggy…she’ll even go and grab a few items from the grocery store for me!

What TV show are you loving right now? Book? Movie? Podcast?

I am kind of a sucker for any Hallmark movie or show….our family loves watching all the hallmark mystery shows together.

My two favorite podcasts are Story Tellers and That Sounds Fun with Annie F Downs.
